Today we’re going to spend five minutes with Sue. Sue is with a company named Ausoma.  Ausoma is a company that specializes in helping authors promote their own book, marketing as a service is what I would like to call that. Is that correct?

 

Sue Canfield

That is correct. Primarily non-fiction authors who have a business and their book helps to support that. We help them with all their social media marketing needs.

 

Wes Benwick

Why is it important for authors to engage, are the tools of just putting your book out on Amazon or speaking about your book in public not enough anymore?

 

Sue Canfield

You know social media has become a necessary part of just about any business. For a nonfiction author, if they aren’t using social media, they are missing a piece of the marketing puzzle. So that is an additional way to market their book and to share what they have to say with a wider audience.

Wes Benwick

What specific services do you bring to the table that’s going to make customers more successful with their work and create a better result at the end?

 

Sue Canfield

Well initially if they are looking at it, especially if it’s a first time author, and they are ready to launch their book I really encourage them to get started months in advance. We offer book launch services or even relaunch services. We help them make sure that all of their social media and their online presence gives their audience the best picture of who they are what their message is. That includes more than just social media. It actually includes their web site, their blog, their Amazon author page and any other online presence that they have so that they can make sure that they’re sharing something consistent on all channels.

So question for you, what is the biggest challenge that your authors have in their business today?

 

Sue Canfield

Most are challenged in how to handle presenting their message in such a way that piques the audience interests without saying buy my book buy my book. They all are interested of course in additional book sales but when all they do is say Here’s my book and I’d like you to buy it, people get turned off very easily. We help them by pulling from their manuscript or their published book messages that we know will pique the interest of the buyer or the potential reader. Then we share those in such a way not only with text but with images as well so that people are interested in, thinking oh, what is this message, who is this person? It’s obviously an expert in what he has to say because of what he has shared and then clicking on a link that takes them to their website or to a page where they can purchase that book.
