What made you decide to go into law?
I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was a kid. I put in 8 years of hard work and now here I am, practicing since 2010.
What is your area of expertise?
My firm handles a lot of different things. We try to be as full service as possible. What we like to do is foster a relationship with a client. We do business law, estate law, family law, personal injury law, and civil litigation. I practice in family business and civil litigation personally.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
If you’re thinking about setting up the business, talk to the attorney first. Don’t go out and do it yourself. I’ve seen time and time again somebody will do it themselves. They didn’t fill out the paperwork right. Maybe they didn’t fill out the paperwork at all and then they have an issue. It’s a lot more expensive for the attorney to fix an issue rather than do it right the first time.
So, is there a particular example or success story that you’ve had with a client that might resonate with people following us?
I had a referral, I do a lot of work with legal aid. This was a pro bono case. She was in foreclosure with her homeowner’s association and at risk of losing her house. The case went through and went all the way to a trial and it was resolved in her favor and she was able to save her house.
