What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in your business?

Moving the thought process from flat print type marketing to more interactive and targeted digital marketing


What makes your company unique?

Our 31 year old insurance agency embraces change and adapts quickly to supporting current clients as well as meeting the needs of new ones.


What is a tip for success that you would provide someone in your same industry?

Listen more and meet people where they are.

The Biggest change in marketing that I see coming in the next 3 years is?

We need to do it faster, better and be able to react to fast changes in the environment for each customer or prospect.


How did you get started in your business?

I came to this business in a very roundabout way. I was a major gift fundraiser for 32 years and I was looking for a career change so I left that field and got hired by this insurance firm to manage their CRM and do digital marketing. I took the skills I learned in relationship management for soliciting major donors and applied that to customers at an insurance agency for both maintaining relationships and also helping agents build new relationships with prospects.

What makes what you do unique?

One of the things I’ve found since joining the team at Dempsey Weiss is that they are moving into the digital realm. This is a small company that’s 32 years old, that has two principles on it and you think of insurance as being old and boring and not really exciting. We’ve been able to really embrace digital marketing, reaching out to folks via email, running a multitude of email campaigns, to reaching them on Facebook and Instagram.

What is next for Dempsey, Weiss & Associates?

We keep going. We are expanding our digital marketing into Instagram. We do a lot of outreach on Facebook. I’m a big ads person on Facebook and targeting what we say and how we reach you based on your interests, your likes, your location and I think just keeping more of that. One of the things I do spend a lot of time working with is we have 20 agents within our agency and helping them embrace digital marketing, embrace videos, embrace the power of Zoom and how that is an effective way to communicate with our clients.
