How did Avalanche Creative come to be?
About five to six years ago I decided I wanted to start my own business. I just wanted to have a side hustle. I picked a niche, it was white labeled apps for churches, and I was able to get a whole bunch of great traffic from the. We got a lot of leads from it but then I just wasn’t interested in the business. I sold that business which was great and it was validation that I was good at driving traffic. I really pivoted Avalanche Creative from that. We started about five years ago and now 90 percent of what we do and really the only thing we focus on is getting you qualified organic traffic to your web site in very creative ways.

I have an interesting one. If you’re not aware of Grand Rapids located in Michigan we are surrounded by the Great Lakes. It’s a great place to live in the summer but we have record-breaking Lake Michigan water levels right now and we work with a marine construction company that is helping homeowners on Lake Michigan try to prevent a lot of that shoreline erosion. They saw this coming, we saw it coming almost a year and a half ago and so we started writing really helpful educational content about prevention and options for shoreline erosion and we have brought them so many great-qualified leads. Their investment has been just astronomical.
What advice would you give to yourself before COVID to know how to handle it?
Simplify and focus. That’s been one thing where I’m glad that we have been positioning our company over the last year and a half to two years to simplifying and focusing on SEO and content strategy as a solution. It allows us to actually still see some great growth in our company.
