As of 2018, Facebook had at least 2.3 billion users, putting it far ahead of other social platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. That’s 2.3 billion potential customers you could be reaching. So, what’s the best way to do it?
To help you better understand how to use the social platform to your advantage, BluHorn asked media experts how Facebook is changing the world of marketing.
There is no shortage of social media platforms. And more seem to be popping up every year. It’s important to know which platforms work best for your business, but Facebook seems to be the benchmark when it comes to digital advertising. However, some companies still tend to struggle when it comes to applying Facebook’s impressive advertising features.
Rebecca Day of Rebecca Day Music works in the creative field. For her, Facebook is the platform that stands out the most. She believes Facebook should be used as a way to personalize your company.
“For the creative individual, whether it be an artist, writer, or musician, you really need to get your business cap on,” Day said. “Especially in this day and age where you have so many independent artists who can’t rely on the label to do all their marketing.”
Rather than simply pumping out ads and selling a product, Day feels that Facebook can serve as a way to connect with the individual consumer and showcase a company’s unique, creative flair.
“You have a direct hand in your brand, your story, and your marketing. Social media is incredibly important. Facebook and Instagram are the two biggest social media outlets for creatives.”
A connection to a post means a share and when your company’s post is shared, that’s free advertisement to a myriad of unreached potential clients. Tony Davis from Granite Transformations quickly realized this when his company switched to the social media goliath, Facebook.
“We have to be quite a bit savvy when it comes to using platforms like Facebook,” Davis said. “The big goal for us is to get our phones to ring. We want people to get in contact with us. We started in 2004. Advertising back then was completely different. Now, we have to have a digital presence.”
Facebook is massive and because of this, your business page has to be used for more than just contact. It has to be personalized to make your company stand out from the rest. According to Mike White of BluHorn, you can’t just look at Facebook as a singular marketing unit. Everyone is a little different and due to the sheer amount of Facebook users, there is an endless supply of unique audiences to market to.
“You have to always be studying the new trends and making sure that it works with everything,” says White.
Facebook may be one of the oldest social media platforms, but that doesn’t mean it is any less relevant. With new updates constantly coming out, it’s important to make sure you know how to make Facebook work for you. Failing to update your page or not taking advantage of new features comes at the risk of losing touch with potential customers.
Facebook provides a perfect blend of work and creativity, allowing you to be personal yet also professional. It’s important to understand how best to utilize this tool, not only to allow customers to communicate with you but so you can communicate with them. Remember: it’s never too late to learn.
