What excites you the most about your industry? What concerns you?
The number of small businesses that are looking for help and are open to new ideas keeps me very engaged. Also, the current challenge of how to market without events has definitely caused hard work and concerns me.
What is your greatest advice for women leaders in your field?
Work hard, be the best you can be at replying to emails, texts, social media. Use your voice in a positive way and build real relationships that will support everything you do.
What’s the biggest mistake you see women make in advertising, PR, and media?
Not fully understanding the market and engaging with everyone.
Which women leaders do you most admire? Why?:
I’m a solo business person. I work in marketing for small businesses and events. Normally there are lots of events this time of year, but unfortunately, because we’re not having events, I am focusing on small businesses and how to drive traffic to their websites, how to drive sales, and really increase their exposure.
How can small businesses be nimble and capitalize on trends?
The biggest thing that I’ve seen from my clients over the last couple of months has been social media. I know a lot of fans don’t want to jump in and they don’t want to spend the time on it, but it is really the primary way that everybody is connecting right now because we can’t have events. We can’t drive people in the stores. You can’t even drop stuff off in houses and do autograph signings. Social media has become a key platform for engaging with your audience, and I mean all of the platforms, not just Facebook.
