What is The Marketing Mixtape?
The Marketing Mixtape is a full-service branding and commercials company. We work largely with musicians around their music releases. We will often talk to them when they’re in the studio or when they’ve got a full record or a single and they don’t know how to market it.
What do you think is the most important relationship in your business?
It’s the artist relationship, I don’t use the word client very often. You want to be talking to the band, checking and seeing how they’re doing, what they need. I would say that aspect is a huge priority. These they do they have it they need it to keep going. That is followed closely by partner relations which is kind of a novelty in relationships.
What advice would you give to someone who decides that they want to follow in your footsteps?
Learn from people you admire. So if there’s somebody that is doing the thing you really want to do or you think you want to do, do an informational interview first. I usually say like 15 to 20 minutes tops, ask your questions and what you can. The other piece of advice is to get as much experience as you can. Try stuff out and see what works.
